My name is Ruth Bar-Shalom and I am a Naturopathic Doctor. I am licensed in California and completed my doctorate in Naturopathic Medicine at the National College of Naturopathic Medicine in 1987. I also completed a Diploma in Acupuncture and Chinese Medicine, and although I do not use acupuncture in my practice, Chinese medical diagnosis is part of my repertoire.

Before patients make the decision to work with me, in person or over the phone, I want them to be aware of how I practice and make sure we are a good fit. Visits with me may have similarities to, but also be quite different than, what you experience with conventional physicians. Like any other doctor, I will ask you questions in order to arrive at a diagnosis of your disease. But then we move deeper in order to understand what is different about you compared to 10 other people who may have the same disease or condition.
We need to understand the roots of your condition so we can establish an individualized treatment. The individualization of both diagnosis and treatment is what defines Naturopathic Medicine and what makes it and my practice so effective for chronic disease.
